Barcelona remains focused on strengthening their squad by bringing in a left winger this summer, although it appears they may opt for a more low-profile signing than originally anticipated with Nico Williams.

Currently, the club is engaged in discussions with Juventus for the potential transfer of Federico Chiesa, who is nearing the end of his contract next summer.

Reports indicate that Barcelona has already reached an agreement on personal terms with Chiesa. The Italian forward is reportedly willing to accept a wage reduction to secure a three-year contract with the Catalan giants and has given his approval for the transfer.

However, negotiations between Barcelona and Juventus are still ongoing. Juventus is pushing for a transfer fee of €20 million, while Barcelona is reluctant to go above €15 million.

Despite the progress in talks, Cadena SER reports that the deal for Chiesa is unlikely to be finalized this week. Any potential agreement will need to be completed during the final week of the transfer window, largely due to concerns over Barcelona’s ability to register the player under La Liga’s financial regulations.

The club must ensure they have the financial flexibility to bring Chiesa on board, which will likely require further sales or off-field agreements.

One of the key factors in Barcelona’s ability to sign Chiesa is the potential departure of Ilkay Gundogan, who is expected to leave the club. However, even with Gundogan’s exit, Barcelona’s Sporting Director, Deco, may still need to orchestrate additional player sales to create the necessary financial space to register Chiesa.

The situation is complicated by the fact that Barcelona has yet to officially register their marquee signing of the year, Dani Olmo.

If Chiesa does join Barcelona, it is anticipated that the club will seek to find a loan move for Ansu Fati. The young forward has struggled to secure a consistent place in the starting lineup, and Chiesa’s arrival would likely limit his opportunities further.

Barcelona’s focus remains on improving their squad while navigating the financial challenges that have hampered their transfer activities in recent seasons.

As the transfer window nears its conclusion, Barcelona will need to act quickly and efficiently to finalize the Chiesa deal and address the necessary financial arrangements to secure his registration.

The next few weeks will be crucial for the club as they look to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
